Tandem Bank adds Atom Bank’s McCarthy and Masthaven’s Ali to senior team
Tandem Bank has appointed David McCarthy as its chief financial officer (CFO) and Wahid Ali as its chief risk officer (CRO), joining its executive team.

McCarthy joins from Atom Bank where he was CFO for eight years. Prior to that, McCarthy held CFO and senior finance roles at Britannia Building Society, Co-op Bank and Bank of Ireland.

Ali joins from Masthaven where he was also CRO for nearly four years. He has over 20 years’ experience in risk management across the banking sector, and has worked at Barclays, RBS, Al Rayan Bank and the Prudential Regulatory Authority.

These appointments follow the expansion of the bank’s mortgage division last month, as well as confirmation that its deputy CEO Alex Mollart would be promoted to CEO.

Tandem: ‘The go-to option for a lower-carbon lifstyle’

Mollart said: “I’m thrilled to have both David and Wahid on board for the next stage of Tandem’s journey to becoming the UK’s greener, digital bank.

“There’s no question David and Wahid bring a wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience to the Tandem team as we continue to grow and become the go-to option for customers transitioning to a lower-carbon lifestyle.”

Meanwhile, just a fortnight ago, the bank announced that it would give “frontline workers” a £500 cost of living payment to support them during these challenging economic times.
