Pure Retirement appoints Burman as distribution head
Pure Retirement has hired ex-Connells divisional mortgage services director Scott Burman (pictured) as head of distribution.

In his role, he will lead the intermediary sales team, which include four regional business development managers (BDM) and four regional telephone BDMs.

Burman joins from Connells where he worked for seven years, most recently as divisional mortgage services director for the Central and Anglia region. He managed six sales managers and more than 50 mortgage advisers in his role.

Before that, he worked at Lloyds Banking Group for nearly 12 years, initially joining as a BDM before progressing to regional manager, national account manager and new homes manager.

Pure Retirement’s CEO Paul Carter said: “Appointing someone of Scott’s calibre and experience underlines the regard in which we hold our adviser network, and we look forward to him leading our intermediary sales team to even greater heights.

“We’ll hopefully begin to see the market landscape move back towards where it sat before the mini Budget, and aiding brokers in best supporting clients will be paramount. We look forward to being at the forefront throughout 2023.”

Burman: ‘Thrilled to be joining a market leader’

Burman added: “Being in the financial services industry for a quarter of a century has allowed me to witness the growth and increasing popularity of equity release, and it’s exciting to be joining the market at a time when it’s enjoyed an upward trajectory in spite of challenging trading conditions.

“Additionally, I’m thrilled to be joining a market leader with a track record in providing excellent adviser support, especially with the upcoming FCA Consumer Duty on the horizon, and the subsequent premium on lenders helping their networks accordingly.”

The lender has been updating its proposition in recent months, widening its lifetime mortgage criteria, bringing out a six-per cent equity release deal and launching an online account management platform for customers.
