Zenzic Development Finance has appointed Roger Comben as its head of lending, and he will “support experienced and capable developers across the UK”.

He will report to Thomas Lloyd-Jones, Zenzic Capital’s co-founder and chief investment officer.

Comben joins the firm from Clearwell Capital, where he spent six years as head of loan origination in its development finance division.

Before that, he worked at Maslow Capital for around three years, and before that, he was a case manager for development finance for nearly two years.

Zenzic Development Finance focuses on residential-led schemes and provides SME housebuilders and developers up to 75% loan to gross development value (LTGDV) Stretch Senior Development Finance.

It targets the lower-to-mid-market ticket sizes of between £2m and £20m, which it said have seen a “significant retrenchment from clearing banks in recent years”.

Lloyd-Jones said: “SME real estate developers in the UK are often overlooked by mainstream lenders and addressing this gap is central to Zenzic Development Finance’s strategy.

“Roger’s two decades of deal-making experience with top tier organisations enhances our capabilities, and with him on board, we are well-placed to build on our strong momentum and support clients across a wide range of sectors and geographies.”

Comben added: “Zenzic has spent the past decade establishing itself as a creative, solutions-driven financier across the capital stack. Joining Nadine, Tom and the team presents an exciting opportunity to help shape the next phase of growth for the Zenzic Development Finance offering.”

The firm recently secured a three-year funding line up to £45m from Cynergy Bank, which it will use to accelerate lending volumes.
