Each week Mortgage Solutions and its sister title Specialist Lending Solutions looks back at the week's most thoughtful, thought provoking and controversial comments to single out the Star Letter.

This week’s Star Letter goes to Mark for his comments on Why we must embrace new-build methods – Steve Goodall

The biggest problem you have with prefabricated properties is that their lifespan may not be as long as the mortgage on it! That is why lenders shy away from system building.

I know it was only a few years ago lenders were not too happy lending on timber-framed buildings, now they lend on them. However, I personally would not buy a timber-frame house, unless it was oak!

Some of the flats that I have looked at over the years have creaky floors, gaps appearing between the floor and skirting board, plus, of course, people moaning about the noise from other flats.
