The Next Gen Home package will combine several technologies, such as solar panels and heat pumps, into one finance agreement that will include the cost of the energy homeowners use.
The 12-month pilot will be made available to 20 E.ON Next customers in the Midlands starting from July, before it is rolled out to eligible households at the start of 2026.
It will allow customers to access around £20,000 of energy-saving equipment, including batteries, an EV charger and a home energy management app, without having to pay a lump sum.
Homeowners will pay this off through a fixed finance agreement of up to 10 years based on their energy consumption and affordable pricing. Those taking part in the pilot will receive a 90% reduction on the cost of installed technologies and will only have to pay for the first year of the 10-year period. The remaining amount will be written off.
When the scheme is rolled out nationwide, homeowners will repay the full amount.

E.ON Next said this could remove the barriers households face in wanting to make their homes more sustainable but not being able to fund the upfront costs.
It said that with proper financing schemes in place, many people could make their homes greener, not just a few.
Ramona Vlasiu, chief operating officer at E.ON Next, said: “The launch of the Next Gen Home pilot represents a significant milestone for E.ON Next and its customers, as we continue to reshape the way energy is valued and consumed in the UK – making greener energy a reality for more people.
“We believe that greener energy choices should be available to everyone, not just the affluent. If we can remove the burden of large upfront costs, there is greater potential to help lower customers’ carbon emissions and bills, and help more people to invest in their own homes in the long term.”
She added: “We know energy bills can be unpredictable – that’s why this plan is designed to give customers clarity and control over their energy spend, with one simple monthly cost that reflects their usage and adapts fairly over time.
“We’re extremely excited to be able to demonstrate how we can help reduce bills and create homes with long-term, affordable and efficient energy usage before we roll out Next Gen Home to a wider customer base.”
