HTB appoints Barnard as broker support head
Hampshire Trust Bank (HTB) has promoted Greg Barnard (pictured) to the newly-created role of head of broker support in its specialist mortgages division.

The appointment is part of the firm’s “continued drive to deliver market-leading service to its broker partners”.

In the role, Barnard will oversee the day-to-day management of lending managers and ensure quality and speed of service “remain at the heart” of the lender’s proposition.

He will also be the primary point of escalation for brokers concerning new business queries and issues, and the first point of contact for the sales team in assessing new deals.

Barnard has worked in the firm’s underwriting division for over five years, initially joining as an underwriter in 2018 before rising to senior underwriter in 2021.

Prior to that, he was a senior underwriter at C&M Wealth Group and before that was a bridging underwriter at Atpledge. He also worked for around eight years at Nationwide.

Andrea Glasgow, sales director for specialist mortgages at Hampshire Trust Bank, said: “Central to our proposition is providing brokers with the essential support they require, consistently delivering on serviceability, and ultimately clearly defining the possible, not impossible.

“If you’re familiar with the HTB brand, then chances are, you would have had an interaction with Greg and already know the fantastic work he does in upholding our service. With the introduction of this new role, I’m thrilled Greg continues to build upon his renowned profile and will further collaborate with our sales team, and beyond.”

She continued: “Greg will play, and already has done in his time here, a pivotal role in our success, underlining HTB’s unwavering commitment to championing landlords and property investors with their specialist property finance requirements.”

Barnard added: “I am honoured to be given this opportunity to represent the bank in this new role. My focus is to ensure we consistently deliver for our brokers, and to do that will mean further drilling down into the finer details of the business to ensure our service levels remain award winning.

“Managing our lending managers, supporting the sales team with assessing new deals and having the ability to be the primary point of escalation, means a truly connected overview of the brokers’ journey through each and every deal, and will bring a positive impact to the relationships we value.
