Metropolis Surveyors ceases trading
Metropolis Surveyors, who specialised in second charge and bridging valuations, has ceased trading, Specialist Lending Solutions understands.

In a statement on LinkedIn, Chris Bramham, managing director of Metropolis Surveyors, confirmed that the company had ceased trading.

Bramham, who rejoined Kings Group in 2017, continued: “We were a national award-winning business who cared passionately about the community we served. We, like many of our peers and colleagues, battled the credit crunch, a pandemic, extortionate hikes in professional indemnity insurance (PII) premiums, and a horrendous last year or so, and we thought we would make it.”

“We were well-run, well-respected, and always doing the best we could to deliver an excellence of service, but it was circumstances beyond anyone’s control that forced this.

“Whilst I was the leader of the business, it wasn’t my decision, but one can’t help feeling the weight of responsibility and impact about what’s happened, especially when you care about a business so much.”

Bramham added: “I want to thank everyone that supported the business over the years, and especially for the many calls and messages expressing genuine sorrow and concern from this great industry. It means a lot and I am genuinely humbled by both the empathy and goodwill.

“We had great people in the business who cared deeply about what they did, from the team in the office, to the surveyors in the field, and their resilience, attitude and desire will be assets to anyone they work with in the future.”

The company was founded in 2004 as a consolidation of an existing chartered surveyors’ practice and the Kings Group of estate agents.

Kings Group then went on to fully acquire the business in 2006 and put a new management team in place consisting of two painters and three directors.

The business initially focused on London and the Home Counties with 20 to 30 surveyors, but grew to operate across England and Wales with a network of surveyors and valuers.

The company carries out around 12,000 residential property valuations every year, including homebuyer reports and building surveys.

The firm offers valuations to high-street lenders, second charge lenders and bridging lenders, working with panel managers and lenders along with master brokers in the second charge and bridging space.
