Why are the awards not happening in person?

Due to Covid-19 and the social distancing restrictions we do not believe it will be possible to run the event safely for all our guests, sponsors and colleagues.

Are the awards still taking place on 15^th December?

Yes, the online awards ceremony will be streamed at 3.45pm on the 15^th December.

How will the awards be shown?

You have to book your ticket in advance to guarantee a place - deadline to book is 12pm on Tuesday 15th December.

Everyone who registers will be sent a link to watch the awards at 3.45pm on 15^th December.

How long is the show?

The Virtual British Mortgage Awards will take place from 3.45pm - 5pm.

Can anyone register to watch?

No, viewing will be limited to those within the mortgage industry.

Will winners be told they have won before the awards are streamed?

No, winners will be announced during the streaming at 4pm on 15^th December.

Will I need to download any software to watch the awards?

No, the awards will be streamed through a web browser so you will not need to have specialist software downloaded. You will need an internet connection to watch the event.

Will winners still receive trophies?

Yes, the trophies will be sent out to all winners after the event.

Will there still be a social media element to the event?

Yes, we want people to continue to engage with the event hashtag #BMA2020. Tweets will be shown on the awards streaming platform during the awards presentation and our social media sponsor, Digital Mortgages will be providing a prize for the Tweet of the Awards.

Our guest announcer, sports presenter Colin Murray will be interacting live on the afternoon, and highlighting some of these to the audience.

When I’m watching the awards will my camera be on and people be able to see me?

No, you will not be visible to other viewers, only comments & social media posts you make will be visible.

If I win, am I expected to make a live acceptance speech?

No, there will be no winner speeches.
