The final member of a gang of mortgage fraudsters has been sentenced to three and a half years in jail.

Colin Esimaje, 41, of Lewisham, London was sentenced to three and a half years’ imprisonment on Tuesday having been found guilty of conspiracy to defraud.

The other four members of the gang, Nadeem Sultan, Titilayo Okuneye, Omawumi Esimaje and Kelvin Akwara were sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison on Friday 26 February at Southwark Crown Court.

They were all found guilty of conspiracy to defraud. One member of the gang, Nadeem Sultan, stole the identities of two people in order to con lenders out of mortgages, one of which was for a property worth £1.2m.

The arrests followed an investigation by officers from the Metropolitan Police Service’s fraud squad.
