Franklin currently holds the position of sales and marketing director for the branch network and intermediary services.
Franklin will replace David Stewart whose intention to step down as chief executive was announced in April last year at the society’s Annual General Meeting.
A spokesman for Coventry said no appointment for Franklin’s position has yet been made.

Franklin has worked at Coventry Building Society for 35 years. He has been a member of the executive team since 2005 and in 2009 was appointed to the board as sales and marketing director.
Franklin said: “Coventry Building Society is in great shape and I am delighted to be given the opportunity of working with a very strong senior management team to build on the success of recent years.”
