The speakers and the educational programme for the first advice industry-tailored virtual event, the Mortgage Administrator iVENT has been revealed.

The virtual conference and exhibition is targeting administrators and paraplanners and has over 450 registered delegates already for the two-day live event on 18 and 19 September.

Delegates will be able to attend, network, meet exhibitors through web chats and download educational material and revisit the arena up to six months after the event.

On Day one: Tuesday 18th September

A market overview – 11.00 am

Richard Beardshaw, head of sales, HSBC UK for Intermediaries

Our speaker will offer insight into the mortgage and housing markets, the different sectors and innovations on the horizon.

The session will also discuss the potential threats to the mortgage market – Brexit, Base rate rises, technology – and the opportunities – the strength of the advice sector, the continual need for human involvement in the mortgage process, and the increasing complexity of borrower circumstances.

What is fraud? – 13.00 pm

Roger Morris, sales director, Precise Mortgages

An explanation of the scale of fraudulent activity in the UK mortgage market and your responsibility for identifying and reporting potentially fraudulent applications.

This will include advice on how to spot false income documentation or identity fraud alongside examples and case studies of full-blown fraud – for example, properties that don’t exist, false bank accounts or bogus legal firms.

Qualifications – 3pm

What it takes to move from being a mortgage administrator to a paraplanner and from either administrator or paraplanner to a full-blown mortgage adviser.

A step by step guide to the different qualifications available, the minimum CeMap requirements and additional qualifications you can take. Speaker to be announced shortly.

Wednesday 19th September

Building communications skills and confidence – 11.00am

Chris Croft, author and trainer

How to speak to customers confidently and reassuringly by phone and how to manage client expectations.

The session will include advice on how to deliver bad news in a positive manner, how to deal with an upset or irate client on the phone and how to ‘manage upwards’ – communicating firmly and fairly with your adviser colleagues.

Case submissions: Get it right first time – 13.00pm

Matt McCullough, national sales manager, intermediary mortgage distribution, Aldermore

This session looks at how to successfully package a case to maximise the likelihood of a speedy and positive outcome. It will help you to understand the process from the lender end and explain which documents lenders will always require or need to be certified, and why.

Our speaker will look at the ideal timeline and examine the stages in the process when documents should be submitted and explore case studies on typical examples of getting it wrong.

Technology and tools: The administrator’s friends – 15.00pm

Jenny Watts, COO, digital adviser, Dynamo (pictured)

How you can harness technological advancement to the benefit of your role, your business, and ultimately the customer.

Dedicated to the needs of mortgage administrators, paraplanners and broker support staff, Mortgage Administrator iVENT will be hosted within a secure, online environment, in which you will be able to access content, network and interact with sponsors directly from your own desktop, laptop, or mobile device.
