EC Directive: Commission payments face ban

Mortgage Solutions | 31 Mar 2011 | 16:55

If commissions are to be changed perhaps we all need to start thinking about the high quality advice we provide our clients with and a fee structure that is fair but also rewards good advice. I believe that most lenders have a fair commission structure based on the level of work. Let’s hope there are no further cut backs to what is already a tough but exciting time ahead.

Mortgage Solutions | 31 Mar 2011 | 10:07

Simret Samra

This is more red tape from a body that obviously hasn’t looked at what is already in place. How much more ‘regulatory and disclosure information’ can you fit onto a piece of paper?

It seems quite acceptable to the regulators that the big banks will not co-operate at all with the repayment of premiums and costs to individuals who have been mis-sold PPI insurance. In addition, the banks are also allowed to refuse to pay case fees. But if a small IFA refuses to co-operate and refuses to pay fees, they are thrown on the scrap heap. That would indicate that the regulators are in the pockets of the big bankers.

His 18 months in jail will hopefully give him an opportunity to kick the habit, but the true cost of his conviction will be the end of his financial services career. He’s lucky to have such good friends.

Osborne: Housing industry dictated scale of FirstBuy Direct

Mortgage Solutions | 29 Mar 2011 | 16:24

Simret Samra It is a pity that this scheme is not available to first-time buyers who want to buy any type of property rather than a new build, as this would have helped to get the housing market moving again. The only vendors benefitting from this scheme are builders.
