IFS careers website launched to attract young financial recruits
The Institute of Financial Services University College has launched a careers site aimed at students with aspirations of working in the financial services sector.

The site, myfinancialcareer.co.uk, has been designed for students aged between 14 and 21 to help with GCSE choices and internship and graduate scheme decisions.

Alison Pask, vice principal at IFS University College, said: “From our work providing financial capability qualifications to schools across the country it became clear, that while many students are very interested in learning about potential career paths in the financial services industry, more resources were required in this area.

“This resource looks to break down the huge number of roles and sectors and explains how they fit in together.”

The website also includes wider careers-related information for students, ranging from CV-writing tips when applying to roles in the financial services industry to interview advice.

Links to current available roles across the industry will be supplied for professions such as mortgage and financial advice, IT in financial services and investment banking.

Dean Mason, managing director of Masons Financial Planning, said there are not enough good brokers to go round with the upturn in demand for finance and the increased complexity of the process brought about by the Mortgage Market Review.

“I welcome the site and input of the IFS,” he added.

“We need good people in the industry for the years ahead who are here for the good times and bad. It’s a highly rewarding profession in many ways but a dedication to each and every client as very important individual is vital. I wish them all luck.”
