RICS and Colleys to speak at Solutions breakfast briefing
Colleys and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) have been confirmed as speakers at the first in Mortgage Solutions' series of Breakfast Briefings, focusing on the importance of surveying in the home buying process.

The Mortgage Solutions’ Breakfast Briefing, Surveying – Strengthening the Value, sponsored by Colleys, will take place in central London on 27 September 2011.

Offering their expert insight into the sector will be RICS’ director of professional groups – built environment and property, David Dalby, and Colleys’ interim head of surveying and valuation services, Paul Chapman.

Surveying is a key aspect of intermediaries’ work, with advisers playing an increasing role in sourcing or recommending a solicitor to clients and helping them to reduce their risk.

Both the CML and FSA require advisers to discuss the surveying aspect of the mortgage and home buying process with their clients, as part of the Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) guidelines.

As a result, it is vital that brokers understand their duty in this area.

With this in mind, Colleys’ Chapman will look into the current state of the surveying market, followed by RICS’ Dalby examining the issues around TCF, where regulation currently stands and what advisers’ responsibilities are.

Brokers will also get the chance to take part in the debate in a Q&A session with all the speakers.

This must-attend event will kick off at 8.15am with a networking breakfast and finish by 11am, giving brokers an insightful session on a key part of the mortgage market.

The Breakfast Briefing is free and open to all advisers on a first come, first served basis.

The series of filmed events will be held at the On Air Studio on Broadwick St, close to Oxford Circus and Piccadilly underground stations.

Places are limited, so register today to guarantee a place.
