SFO director: Body needs to ‘up its game’
The director of the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) has admitted the organisation has been suffering from “failure in quality” and needs to “up its game”, the Telegraph reports.

David Green told MPs on the Justice Select Committee recent failed investigations, which he described as a “fiasco”, were down to poor quality management.

“We need to up our game on performance, and I’m all for that. We do a very difficult job in difficult circumstances,” he said.

The Telegraph reports he also said the SFO needs to shift from doing deals with companies it investigates to prosecuting in court.

“No one would be happier than I would if we had more prosecutions,” he said, adding: “I dare say the public is unhappy if they think serious fraud is not dealt with and this is what we are supposed to do.

“I want to produce results for the public within our area of expertise and operation.”
