Scottish BS to accept one year of accounts from self-employed applicants
Scottish Building Society is to adjust its criteria for self-employed borrowers.

As a result, for mortgages at below 80 per cent loan-to-value it will now consider applicants who have just one year of accounts.

Borrowers will also need to present a projection for the coming year.

For company directors, the mutual will take account of salary, dividends and potential drawings from retained profit into account when assessing income.

It said it will also consider professionals in their first year of self-employment who work within an established partnership or practice.
