Poll: Should Osborne drop Help to Buy upper limit?
Chancellor George Osborne is facing renewed pressure to make changes to the government’s flagship Help to Buy scheme in light of rising house prices.

Earlier this week a number of senior economists told the Financial Times they would like to see changes to the scheme to help combat rapidly rising house prices in many areas of the UK.

According to recent figures from Nationwide house prices rose by 10.9% in the year to April with many apportioning some blame to the government scheme.

Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls has called for the cap to be lowered to £400,000 while many other commentators have suggested a £300,000 limit.

The latest Mortgage Solutions People’s Poll asks brokers if they think Chancellor Osborne should lower the upper limit of the scheme from £600,000 to £300,000.
