Paradigm Mortgage Services has launched a series of Mortgage Market Review (MMR) workshops for its member firms aimed at giving advisers an insight into the impact of the review.

The free workshops will look at the MMR, its aims and implications for advisers, and the potential benefits, while tackling members’ questions on what it all means.

In addition, it will cover individual adviser registration requirements and responsibilities, compliance issues and the support needed to ensure a smooth transition.

A range of speakers will be at the event to offer their insight on the background of the MMR, the potential effects, and what may be coming next from the FSA.

Speakers include: Bob Hunt, chief executive of Paradigm Mortgage Services, Richard Froud, head of business economics at Barclays, Richard Tugwell, head of national sales at Northern Rock, Robert Sinclair, director of AMI, and Anthony Morrow, partner at Paradigm Partners.

The first workshop will take place in London on 17 November and, to coincide with the event, Paradigm has produced a MMR edition of its member newsletter available online.

John Coffield, head of Paradigm Mortgage Services, said: “The MMR is clearly going to change the mortgage advice and lending environment for all those working within it. The first step is likely to be the requirements for all advisers to gain Approved Person status from the regulator and this first in a series of workshops has been designed to help firms understand this new responsibility and the compliance implications it will bring.

“While the timetable for this begins in March 2011, there are steps and issues advisers need to be addressing well in advance so that when the time for implementation arrives both individuals and their firms are ready.”
