Mark Prisk replaces Grant Shapps as housing minister
Mark Prisk has been appointed as the government’s housing minister after the departure of Grant Shapps.

50-year-old Prisk is a former chartered surveyor and has represented the Hertford and Stortford constituency since 2001. He moves from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills where he was minister of state. See his biography here.

Prisk is married to Lesley Titcomb, acting chief operating officer at the Financial Services Authority.

The role as housing minister became vacant earlier today when previous occupant Grant Shapps was appointed Conservative Party co-chairman, alongside Lord Feldman of Elstree, replacing Baroness Warsi in the role.

David Cameron has undertaken a major reshuffle of his ministerial team, with meetings having taken place at Downing Street all day.
