Trainee surveyors at Countrywide Surveying Services are celebrating passing their RICS assessment exams.

Of the 54 trainee surveyors who undertook their exams in April, 50 have passed and are now fully-qualified Associates of RICS.

This represents a 92% pass rate, which compares favourably to the industry-wide level of around 70%.

Countrywide Surveying Services launched the first major trainee surveyor programme in the industry in 2013, as part of its plans to recruit market experienced professionals in response to the well-publicised capacity issues.

Over 400 applications were received and from these applicants, 90 successful candidates were accepted onto the programme joining in three teams. The last group will take their exams later this year.

RICS regional director Luay Al-Khatib said: “What a fantastic success for Countrywide. This exceptional pass rate is clearly testament to high calibre individuals and a first-rate training programme.

“With a pressing shortage of skilled valuers in the market, I am pleased to say that we are working proactively with the leading businesses in the residential sector to bring in a new generation of well qualified and regulated professionals through the Assoc. RICS qualification. I would like to thank the senior managers at Countrywide for presenting such well-prepared and talented people, and I look forward to seeing them progress through their careers as RICS members.”

Paul Chapman, managing director of Countrywide Surveying Services, said: “We are extremely pleased to have achieved this fantastic success in qualifying such a high proportion of our trainees, who now have the foundations to develop a successful career as a chartered surveyor.”
