‘We are going back to listening to what brokers actually want’ – Bryden
One of the key priorities for Amanda Bryden (pictured), head of Halifax Intermediaries and Scottish Widows Bank, is to listen and engage with what brokers want and need.

In a video interview, Bryden, who has been in the role since August, said that one of her priorities was to make sure we are “really thinking about what our brokers and their clients are going to need as we move further forward”.

She said that she wanted to think beyond next year and the year after that and take a much “longer lens”.

“There are so many aspects that are going to affect clients. We don’t know how long cost of living is going impact on many people. We’ve also got things like sustainability, and we have to go on a journey with that, but how do we help clients to understand it and give brokers the tools to signpost clients into the right place,” Bryden said.

She continued: “I want to make sure that I am engaging with our brokers and that we are going back to listening to what brokers actually want from us, what do they need from us in order to help their customers because at the end of the day, it’s customer outcomes that we’re all driving towards.

Bryden said that she was spending a lot of time examining the “efficiencies of how we run” and how it makes sure that the firm can “utilise the time that we’ve got to deliver really impactful and vital things that brokers are really going to need from us going forward”.

“I’m spending an awful lot of time travelling the country to re-engage with quite a lot of our broker partners at all different levels, whether that be CEOs of networks or brokers out on the ground.

“I’m really keen to hear what they like or want to see from us to make sure that we are on that right journey.”
