The plight of first-time buyers has become even more prescient in recent times with the cost of living crisis making saving for a deposit more challenging and rising mortgage rates makes affordability difficult
Earlier this week, reports suggested that the government was considering launching a scheme that would bring 99 per cent loan to value (LTV) mortgage to the market to support first-time buyers onto the property ladder.
The move has been met with mixed reaction, with some noting that it could support buyers with higher incomes, and there were 100 per cent LTV mortgages on the market already.
Other said that this was a short-term fix and could cause house prices to further increase, aggravating the challenges faced by those looking for a first home.
This month Mortgage Solutions is asking brokers what support would best help first-time buyers?
What support do you want to see for first-time buyers?
