Speaking exclusively to Mortgage Solutions, Nigel Stockton, financial services director at Countrywide said leading the first ever intermediary launch with HSBC has been a mutual education.

Feedback from brokers suggested HSBC’s minimum application quality and prime credit scoring requirements were a little bit higher than some of Countrywide’s other panel lenders, which works for HSBC, he said.

“It’s about us learning what’s right for their customers and what’s right for us,” added Stockton.

Countrywide is already looking at extending the HSBC product range it offers.

Watch out for part two coming next week, as Stockton shares his views on potential market share and fee opportunities.
