John Malone, managing director of Premier Mortgage Service (PMS), has backtracked on his plans to find a successor for his role, with the announcement he will still be with the company for at least another 18 months.

Malone had strongly hinted at his desire to move on from his role as managing director at Incisive Media’s Mortgage Event last October.

At the time, he told Mortgage Solutions he would become chairman of the firm and would leave his heir to the day-to-day running of the business. He said he would hire someone with established experience in the industry, rather than someone he would have to train.

Steve Atkins’ was previously being paraded as Malone’s replacement but he made a surprise exit from PMS (mortgagesolutions-online, 24/08/07) after just over a year at the firm after an “amicable arrangement”.

Industry rumours were rife that Linda Will, former Accord Mortgages managing director, would take over but it seems there will be no managing director appointed in the near future.
