FSA to review quality of protection sales
The FSA has said it will review the sales standards of pure protection products by mortgage intermediaries in its Retail Distribution Review.

The regulator is concerned that intermediaries who are moving into product areas where they have little or no experience could give rise to conduct risks.

In its consultation paper on pure protection, the FSA said it will not introduce adviser charging to pure protection sales.

However, for firms with investment advisers and mortgage brokers who do not give investment advice, brokers could be obliged to disclose commission on any pure protection sale.
