Openwork ‘surprised’ at Abbey’s persistance with fast-track
Brokerage network Openwork is 'surprised' that Abbey for Intermediaries has not withdrawn its fast-track facility from the market following a number of withdrawals from the scheme.

Legal & General Network announced its exit earlier this month with Mortgage Intelligence, Mortgage Next and Countrywide following suit.

Tenet Lime and Sesame are both said to be contemplating their position, with Openwork confirming they are monitoring the situation.

Openwork told Mortgage Solutions: “Openwork have not withdrawn the fast-track facility from our advisers at this point, although we are monitoring the position closely and are in active discussions with Abbey.”

The network added that it was surprised that AFI had not already withdrawn the facility following the number of networks abandoning the scheme.

“The FSA made its views on fast-track clear in the MMR and we are surprised that Abbey is waiting for distributors to withdraw usage, rather than taking the decision themselves.”

A spokesperson for Abbey for Intermediaries said: “We constantly review our offering to ensure it meets the needs of our intermediary partners.

“We continue to offer fast track and our requirements for the completion of fast track applications are clearly set out on our website to support intermediaries.”
