The UK’s largest no-fee broker recruited 19 advisers when it established the office in November 2012 and another 17 in April. The majority of advisers were graduates.
London & Country Mortgages associate communications director David Hollingworth said Newcastle was an attractive city because of the number of universities and the firm would not rule out recruiting more advisers: “We do have a lot of young graduates which we think is a good way to bring new blood into the business. Someone who has not got previous experience comes to it fresh.”
Experienced advisers were also welcome, he added.
Although the Bath firm’s decision to open an office in a northern hub gives it greater regional spread, the telephone-based nature of its advice services means all offices will serve the same client base.
In another sign of expansion, the firm has nearly tripled the size of the office it leases in Newcastle to 9,680 square feet.
