Agent review website drops ‘misleading’ claim after ASA complaint
The property industry reviews website AllAgents has dropped a claim from its website, after complaints were raised with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

AllAgents allows buyers, sellers and tenants to write reviews of their experiences with estate and letting agents, as well as to compare the sorts of fees they may have to pay with individual firms.

The website stated that AllAgents had been “seen on” a range of high profile media outlets, such as The Times and The Sunday Times.

However, a complaint was sent to the ASA about the claim, suggesting that it was misleading. The argument was that AllAgents had paid to be featured in those publications, rather than receiving coverage on an editorial basis.

A spokesperson for the ASA explained: “We approached [AllAgents] about the concerns that had been raised and they confirmed that they had not previously paid to be featured in these publications. However, they did not provide sufficient evidence to back up the claims that they had been featured in an endorsement-related editorial piece by each publication listed.”

AllAgents said that the claim had been removed from its website, and so the case has been informally resolved by the ASA.
