The West Brom hires Windle as chief customer officer
The West Bromwich Building Society (West Brom) has appointed Alex Windle as its chief customer officer.

Windle joins from The Cumberland, where he was for seven years most recently as chief transformation officer and chief customer officer.

He has also held several roles with strategy, marketing and commercial functions at BP, LG Electronics and Vodaphone.

Windle will join the executive committee and report to chief executive Jonathan Westhoff.

Westhoff said: “Alex joins us at exciting time, bringing a broad range of experience from both the mutual sector and beyond. I’m looking forward to Alex building on our solid foundations to ensure our customers continue to receive the products and services they require.”

Windle added: “The West Brom has delighted its customers and community with great products and excellent customer service for almost 175 years. I’m looking forward to working with the team on how we will enhance what we do to meet the changing needs of our existing and future customers, our colleagues and our intermediary partners.”

Last month, the mutual appointed Metro Bank’s Martin Boyle as its chief operating officer. For its half-year results announced at the end of 2022, it reported a 12 per cent rise in new mortgage lending to £609m with a rise in lending to first-time buyers.
