Sesame Bankhall hires Wilson as chief operating officer
Sesame Bankhall Group has appointed Paul Wilson as its chief operating officer, taking over from Richard Howells, subject to FCA approval.

Howells, who has worked at the firm since 2019, left the business earlier this month to take up a role elsewhere in the industry, the company said.

Wilson joins from Aviva where he worked for nearly eight years in various roles. He initially joined as corporate solutions director and then took on the role of chief marketing officer for UK life and savings and retirement. He then became connected propositions director.

Prior to that he worked at Barclays Wealth for nearly four years as head of consulting, corporate and employer solutions.

Before that he held senior roles at St. James’s Place Wealth Management for around six years and Mercer Marsh Benefits for over a decade.

Wilson is a non-executive director on Sesame Bankhall’s board and will start his role on 3 July.

John Cowan, interim chief executive officer at Sesame Bankhall Group, said: “I am pleased to welcome Paul to SBG. With in-depth experience and expertise in strategy, transformation, marketing and distribution as well as building and leading teams that deliver growth, value and efficiency, he will be an excellent addition to our experienced leadership team.

“With the hard work, expertise and commitment of our people, we are in a strong position to take advantage of the many opportunities ahead, and I am incredibly optimistic and positive about the future direction of the business.”

Wilson added: “I am delighted to be joining SBG. Having been on the board for the past two years, I know what a vibrant and ambitious business it is and I’m looking forward to working with the rest of the team to help them deliver on the group’s long-term objectives.”

There has been some change amongst Sesame Bankhall’s senior team, with former chief executive Michele Golunska departing to take up a role at Aviva and M&G Wealth hiring Ross Liston.
