AMI launches mentoring scheme with IMLA and DIFF
The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries has launched a “cross industry mentoring programme” with the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (IMLA) and The Diversity and Inclusivity Finance Forum (DIFF) to support people across the mortgage industry.

The scheme will operate through its workinginmortgages.org.uk website and is open to all lenders, insurers and the intermediary sector to participate in.

The aim of the programme is to “support people across the mortgage industry to enhance their skills and their career potential through one-to-one and reverse-mentoring opportunities”.

Mentorship was one of the recommendations made in the 2021 AMI Viewpoint on diversity inclusion and equity in the mortgage sector.

AMI announced that it would be launching a mentorship scheme earlier this year, saying that it would widen opportunities and build industry confidence.

‘Never too young or too old to be mentored’

AMI’s chief executive Robert Sinclair (pictured) said: “You are never too young or too old to be mentored. A good mentor can help keep a career challenging and fulfilling, even for those in the later stages of their career. No matter where you are in your career, there is always someone who knows more than you, who can help you gain a better understanding of yourself and improve your skills.

“We are grateful for all the partnership provided between AMI and IMLA to weave a network across our sector. Thank you to DIFF for its financial support to this initiative which means it will be free at the point of delivery. I am excited to see how this can enhance the career journeys of our people.”

The Diversity and Inclusivity Finance Forum, launched in association with Mortgage Solutions, is an events and editorial programme designed to educate and promote fairness for all operating in the mortgage and finance industries.
