I think those brokers who worked for themselves have long gone. In the current market and climate a broker MUST work for their client (I do not call them customers). Strange article.

Couldn’t agree more. But let’s face facts:
We are in the minority.
There is more work involved in advising a client (researching the market) as opposed to selling and shoehorning a client into one product.
Not as profitable (for reasons stated), but it certainly is more satisfying/rewarding.
I became self-employed because I found it was the only way I could provide the level of ‘duty of care’ to my customers.

Total claptrap. Another bunch of overpaid quangocrats who spend other people’s money as if it is going out of fashion. And what will MAS achieve after spending £millions stating the bleedin’ obvious on a website that no-one visits? F-all.
