Equity release forums hit the road
Two new broker forums are set to take place in Potters Bar and Warrington at the end of November.

Bridgewater Equity Release has added two further dates to its regular regional broker forums, with the first to be held in Potters Bar on Thursday 25 at the Marriott Cheshunt Hotel, and the second held on the following day in Warrington, at the De Vere Daresbury Park Hotel.

Each forum begins at 10am and concludes at 1pm, with the Bridgewater team offering advisers information on the home reversion sector, including how the products fit into the equity release adviser kit.

Peter Welch, head of sales and distribution at Bridgewater Equity Release, said: “At a time when consideration of equity release and, in particular, home reversions, is growing amongst consumers at or near retirement it is important that advisers have the support and help of a provider committed to the sector.”

He added: “It is clear that many equity release customers who would seem particularly suited to home reversions are still opting for lifetime mortgage products.  While we accept that reversions will not be suitable for the majority they do provide absolute certainty particularly in a falling house price environment, and it is vitally important that advisers are able to provide detailed information on both options to their client base.”

Other key topics to be discussed at the forums include the wants and needs of attendees, how to educate consumers about equity release, the use of marketing and PR to generate leads and the specific legal implications when taking out a plan and methods to improve adviser’s soft skills.
