Mortgage Solutions is bringing together a panel of key industry experts to debate the major challenges facing the intermediary sector today and look at what the future holds.

Chaired by Radio 4 Money Box’s Paul Lewis, the inaugural Big Debate will offer brokers a unique opportunity to hear from and question the experts, in a discussion that will be driven by questions from attendees.

Taking place at the London Film Museum on 9 December, the Big Debate panellists includes: Joanna Elsom, chief executive of the Money Advice Trust; Robert Sinclair, director of AMI; Harry Katz, principal at Norwest Consultants; Niamh Prendergast of Ernst & Young; and John Malone, executive chairman of PMS.

The free event, in association with Platform, will cover key issues, such as whether mortgage-only advice is a thing of the past, just how big a threat the internet is to mortgage advisers, how mortgage advisers can improve their professional status and will the return of remortgaging be the domain of the intermediary?

As well as having time to network, intermediaries will be able to find out about the developments in the mortgage market and their potential impact on their business.

Lee Gladwell, business development director at Platform, said: “This event provides brokers with an opportunity to take part in a lively debate with some of the industry’s leading figures about the future of mortgage distribution.

“It will focus on the important issue of what the industry should do to grow and remain buoyant as the distribution model changes and the market continues to remain subdued. With a chance to catch up with other brokers over a drink, it promises to be an exciting evening.”
