14 brokers back BSA’s shared home ownership hub
Over 14 brokers have backed the shared home ownership website launched by the Building Societies Association (BSA) and Nationwide Building Society last week.

The ‘Housing Hub’ website aims to provide information about shared home ownership to consumers and the wider industry, including listings for specialist mortgage advisers.

At present the site lists eight housing associations and mutual lenders, but the BSA is in talks with several other lenders, including a large bank, which will list within the next two months.

The launch lenders are all mutual and include Dudley, Hanley Economic, Ipswich, Leeds, Mansfield, Nationwide, Newbury and Teachers Building Societies.

The BSA said it is looking to extend the Hub to brokers in due course.

Paul Broadhead, head of mortgage policy at the BSA, said: “We’ve been pleased by the response that we’ve had so far on the launch of the Housing Hub. Our focus right now is to get a critical mass of lenders and housing associations signed up to the Hub.

“That said it is clear that there is market demand out there for shared ownership models as we’ve already had 14 brokers get in touch, interested in what the Hub might offer.

“Our plan is to extend the Hub to brokers and other interested parties at some stage. I hope that this won’t be too far down the tracks.”
