Taylor Wimpey hires chief executive and Coventry appoints chair – round-up
Homebuilder Taylor Wimpey has a hired a chief executive, and Coventry Building Society has appointed a chair.

 

Jennie Daly has been promoted to the top job at Taylor Wimpey following the company announcement in December that Pete Redfern is to step down as chief executive.

Currently working as group operations director, Daly will take on the role after the annual general meeting on 26 April.

Her new salary will be £750,000, and she will also benefit from a pension worth 10 per cent of her annual pay, as well as the chance to secure a bonus worth 150 per cent of her salary.

Daly’s renumeration will further include a performance share plan for 2022 of 200 per cent of salary, the company said in a statement to the London Stock Exchange.

In her current role, Daly oversees Taylor Wimpey’s land, planning, design, technical, sustainability, production and supply chain functions, as well as managing the Taylor Wimpey Logistics business.

New chair for Coventry

David Thorburn is to join the board of Coventry Building Society in April 2022 as a non-executive director, taking the place of Gary Hoffman as the mutual’s chair.

Thorburn has previously been chief executive of Clydesdale Bank and a director of Barclays Bank UK, chairing the lender’s board risk committee.

He is also an independent non-executive with Ernst and Young and was previously an external member of the Bank of England’s Prudential Regulatory Committee.

Coventry chief executive Steve Hughes said: “I am pleased David has agreed to join the society and take up the role as chair of the board later this year.

“David’s experience and insight will be invaluable as we continue to build on our success and focus on our aim to deliver a sustainable future for the organisation and society as a whole. I very much look forward to working with him.”
