Darlington BS appoints digital BDM and Vigeon departs
Darlington Building Society has hired a digital business development manager to adapt to the “changing landscape of business development” and Tim Vigeon, associate BDM for London and the South East has left the business.

Vigeon joined Darlington Building Society last year as an associate business development manager on an 18-month contract. His role was to grow the business by supporting brokers in London and South East.

Prior to that, he was head of lending at Buckinghamshire Building Society for around six years, and a year as a mortgage manger.

Vigeon was also with the Financial Ombudsman Service for just under five years, where he worked on the assessment and resolution of payment protection insurance complaints, and before that, spent 23 years at Nationwide where he started his career.

The mutual has also appointed James Travers to the newly-created digital BDM role. He has worked at the firm since 2016, initially joining as senior business development officer.

Chris Blewitt, head of intermediary distribution, said: “In Tim’s 18 months with us, he has been instrumental in growing our presence in the South East and London and has built a fantastic platform for us to build upon as we continue to grow and I would like to put on record my appreciation to Tim for all of his efforts and support over this time.”

He continued that moving forward it was catering to the “changing landscape of business development”, which included advisers adopting agile working practices, by hiring Travers as a digital BDM.

Blewitt added: “James will utilise the ever-increasing technical tools at our disposal to offer our lending partners quicker and slicker access to their BDM, both for criteria queries and sales review meetings, coupled with traditional boots on the ground support for our key partners from myself where required.”
