Canada Life unveils volunteering programme to support community causes
Financial services firm Canada Life has launched a volunteering programme, teaming up with giving platform Neighbourly.

Following a successful pilot, all colleagues of Canada Life UK, covering around 1,500 employees, will be able to take two days per year as paid time off to support charitable and local community causes.

Neighbourly helps firms run volunteering programme and makes it as “easy as possible for employees to get involved and make a positive impact in their local communities”. This can be donating time, money or surplus products to local causes.

Nick Harding, chief people officer at Canada Life, said that it was pleased to partner with Neighbourly to launch to the programme.

“With over 1,500 colleagues working across different locations in the UK, as well as in the Isle of Man and Dublin, it was important for us to work with an organisation that makes signing up to volunteer as easy as possible.

“We’re looking forward to giving back to the communities we live and work in – and with each colleague able to take up to two days per year as paid time off, we’re hopeful that we can make a significant impact,” he added.

Steve Butterworth, CEO, Neighbourly comments: “We’re delighted to be working with Canada Life on their new volunteering programme. Neighbourly is helping to make it as easy as possible for Canada Life employees to participate in the opportunities available and to report back on the impact that the business is having.

“Neighbourly has a network of around 25,000 good causes, including small charities and community groups. They are doing invaluable work, usually with limited resources, so Canada Life’s volunteering effort is hugely valuable in supporting the community in many different ways.”
