Simon Knight to leave John Charcol
Simon Knight has stepped down as CEO of broker John Charcol.

Knight returned to the brokerage in 2015 following the management buyout from Towergate, having started his career with John Charcol in the late 1980s. He went on to set up packager Private Label and held a series of senior roles at GMAC, including chief executive.

After leaving GMAC in 2010, Knight was executive director at consultancy Squarehill and managing director of Hearthstone Investments, before beginning his second stint at John Charcol.

In a statement, the firm said: “As CEO, Simon Knight played an integral part in the John Charcol buyout from Towergate and subsequently led a major change programme of the business that included the acquisition of Simply Finance Group.

“Over the past two years Simon and his team have successfully laid the key foundations necessary for getting John Charcol into  shape and the business can now look forward to an exciting future of significant growth.  Having completed this initial phase, Simon has decided that the time is right for him to move on to his next challenge, and we wish him every success.”

John Charcol executive chairman, Ian Darby will remain ultimately responsible for the business supported by a strong management team.
