In total, 83,877 mortgage searches were carried out on the Twenty7tec platform. The firm said this represented a jump of 12.11 per cent on its busiest day during January 2022 and almost 40 per cent up on the busiest day in January 2020.
Nathan Reilly (pictured), director of Twenty7tec, said the firm was expecting a strong week, noting that there is pent-up demand from the Christmas period, while recent rate reductions from mortgage lenders may also be boosting borrower sentiment.
He continued: “Yesterday was the busiest day since 11 October 2022, which was also in the midst of our busiest ever week as customers scrambled to make sense of the Truss/Kwarteng mini Budget and products were being removed from the market on a minute-by-minute basis.
“Thankfully, we’re in calmer times now and product levels have risen to pre-mini Budget levels.
Reilly suggested that the market is likely to be more “steady busy” than see the sort of frenzied activity witnessed in the run-up to stamp duty deadlines, but added: “We’ve seen it all over the past three years, so never say never.”
Twenty7tec has been busy on the acquisition front already this year, having concluded deals for both Meet Parker and BrokerSense.
