Rising Star: Candice Irving, Smoove
This week, Mortgage Solutions is speaking with Candice Irving, account manager at Smoove.

What does your role entail and how long have you been doing it?

I am an account manager, meaning I manage numerous accounts, ensuring they understand how to quote on our system, as well as using the system to their advantage to help clients and increase their own income and revenue.

What attracted you to working in the mortgage/property/finance sector?

I always thought it was a good industry to get into – you are always learning. I wanted to buy my own house, so it gave me a great understanding of the market and how you go about it. I also enjoy sales and I wanted to further expand my knowledge.

What were you doing in the five years before starting here?

I worked in a similar role within recruitment and prior to that I worked in the beauty industry, specifically within make-up and skincare sales, which I also thoroughly enjoyed.

What personal talent/skill is most valuable in doing your job?

Being relatable and personable as well as likeable.

What personal talent/skill would you most like to improve on?

I’d like to continue to learn more, which I will do when I undertake my CeMAP qualification.

How has the pandemic changed the way you approach your job?

I am able to work from home, which makes for a better work-life balance, as I’m not spending so much time in the car.

What is the most interesting/memorable property deal/case you’ve been involved in?

Without wanting to blow my own trumpet, there are many moments of which I am proud. These include beating records from previous account managers and bringing on accounts that I had been told wouldn’t use us. I am well known for having the highest IPU in the team as well as having the most platinum accounts.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

Progressing in the company and earning more commission.

If present-day you could go back in time and tell yourself something five years ago, what would it be?

You are going to buy your own house; no one helped you, you did it by yourself. Be proud.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve tackled so far in your career?

Difficult broker conversations and personality clashes with other members of the team; however, I believe I have overcome these in a professional manner.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

To see into the future: will I get married?

And finally, what’s the strangest question you’ve ever been asked?

What football team do you support?
