Aldermore to offer mortgages in Scotland from next month
Aldermore is to offer mortgages in Scotland for the first time as it plans to increase its lending levels in 2013.

The lender currently only offers products in England and Wales but will expand its reach north of the border as part of a plan to increase gross mortgage lending this year.

The firm, which launched in July 2009, has been talking to brokers across Scotland and working with the CML’s Scottish branch ahead of the launch to ensure it is able to operate correctly within Scotland’s legal framework.

Mortgage Solutions understands that the Scotland launch will take place in late February or early March.

The firm will offer the same product range in Scotland as it does in England and Wales.

“We have firm plans to launch in Scotland.” Aldermore’s managing director Charles Haresnape told Mortgage Solutions.

“Ahead of the launch we have been keen to get feedback from brokers on what they think a new lender should bring to the market. We’re keen to shape our proposition with feedback from brokers rather than coming to the market telling people what they want.

“We are aware that there are different broker propositions in different parts of Scotland and we want to understand that.

“Our service proposition will be continue to offer personal underwriting and avoid the ‘computer says no’ approach of other lenders.”
