Land Registry to extend notice and search periods due to bank holiday
The Land Registry has confirmed that all notice periods and official search priority periods which expire after 19th September will be automatically extended by one day.

The extension is as a result of 19th September being declared a national bank holiday to mark the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Any affected cancellation dates will also be extended.

Land Registry warned that notices and search certificates issued before 19th September which include an expiry date will not reflect that automatic extension, so records will need to be amended manually. For example, a notice issued on 12th September with an expiry date of 3rd October will actually not expire until 4th October.

In addition, Land Registry said that its customer contact centre and technical support teams will not be available on 19th September.

Earlier this month, Mortgage Solutions reported that the Land Registry had published its strategy for creating a digital property market, while also appointing a new chair Nilesh Sachdev.
