Lloyds Banking Group’s Mason to retire
Lloyds Banking Group’s head of housing and sustainability, Andy Mason (pictured), will retire from the business on the 5 April.

He has worked at Lloyds Banking Group for 30 years, initially starting his career as a financial adviser in the Lloyds’ Jarrow branch.

Mason spent a large part of his early career working on investments, pensions and protection, working across advice, distribution, relationship and product development teams.

He was head of investments channel management between 2009 and 2015 and was head of investment channels from 2012 to 2015.

Mason became head of mortgage products in 2015, and then took on the role of head of housing and sustainability in 2020.

Under his leadership, Halifax has kept its leading position in the new-build mortgage market and is at the forefront with education and engagement around sustainability.

Mason also was instrumental in supporting the group’s housing ambitions, culminating in the first Lloyds Banking Group Housing Senate in 2022 and the establishment of the shared ownership council.

The search for a successor has started, the company said.

Esther Dijkstra, managing director intermediaries, Lloyds Banking Group, said: “On behalf of Lloyds Banking Group, I would like to thank Andy for his dedication and leadership, and I wish him well in this next phase of life.”

Mason added: “It has been a very enjoyable career with the group, during which I’ve had wonderful colleagues and made many friends in the industry. I look forward to spending more time with my family but I don’t doubt my naturally curious mind will open the door to new adventures sometime in the future.”
